Here’s your sad news of the week, Zack Snyder will not be finishing Justice League following a family tragedy that has caused him and his wife to step away from the movie. Instead, Joss Whedon will finish the movie for Snyder, overseeing the post-production and the planned reshoots.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story about Snyder stepping away due to the suicide of his daughter. While Whedon will be filming new scenes, there are no new characters being added and the movie is still Zack Snyder’s vision:
“We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handing a baton to Joss, but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.”
While some of the jerks who claim to be comic book fans are using this to attack Snyder yet again, he anticipated it:
“Here’s the thing, I never planned to make this public,” he says. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth is … I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”
The story says Warner initially considered delaying Justice League for the Snyder’s to deal with their family tragedy, but they didn’t want that to happen. Thus Joss Whedon will be finishing the movie.
