  • Top 5 First Doctor Stories 0 CommentsPosted by on July 30, 2012 under Featured, Reviews
With the new season of Doctor Who only a few months away (or weeks, if you trust some of the internet rumors) it is time to get ramped up.  With the good Doctor making his first appearance on the cover of Entertainment Weekly the interest in the show, both old and new, has risen.  To get ready for the upcomi... more.
  • The Dark Knight Rises Review 1 CommentsPosted by on July 20, 2012 under Comics, Featured, News, Reviews
After seeing The Dark Knight Rises Wednesday night, I wanted a good day to decompress from it prior to writing my review. I walked out of the theater in awe of a finale that reminded me of Return of the King nine years ago. I wanted to make sure it wasn't just pre-showing euphoria and I wanted to think through it to see if nearly twenty four hours if I felt the same. And I do. Before I dive in,... more.
  • The Amazing Spider-Man Game Review 0 CommentsPosted by on July 5, 2012 under Featured, Gaming, News, Reviews
After Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, developer Beenox became Activisions official Spider-Man studio. Their followup game, Edge of Time, didn't quite live up to their debut but now it's apparent that the reason for its drop in quality is that talent and resources were likely working on the movie-tie in for The Amazing Spider-Man. Dropping the level-based gameplay from their previous games, Be... more.
  • The Amazing Spider-Man Review 0 CommentsPosted by on July 3, 2012 under Comics, Featured, News, Reviews
This past May, after seeing The Avengers, I could remember not being overly excited about The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. After Whedon's epic, it was hard to imagine a comic book movie in an isolated universe living up to what the Marvel Cinematic Universe was able to accomplish by embracing what made the books so great. Spidey fans were burned three times by Sam Raimi and crew, ... more.
  • Why I Make Mine Marvel 0 CommentsPosted by on June 22, 2012 under Comics, News, Reviews
For a long time, I was a hardcore DC comics reader. Throughout the months leading up to the New 52 and following the relaunch, my saver was exclusively DC. I had some serious issues with Marvel and the decisions Joe Quesada was saddling the company with. My biggest problem was that they would alter the comics every summer to match whatever movie was in theaters that year. I assume the reasoning be... more.
  • Prometheus Review 1 CommentsPosted by on June 9, 2012 under Featured, News, Reviews
Watching Prometheus early this morning, in my favorite seat in my favorite theater, one thought entered my mind early in the movie when the Prometheus is just arriving at the planet. This is a science fiction movies with big ideas. Yes, it's mixed in with horror and plants the DNA of what will become the Alien series, but it's based around high concepts and ideas of where humanity may be going and... more.
  • Avengers vs X-Men #5 Review 0 CommentsPosted by on June 7, 2012 under Comics, News, Reviews
The last installment of Avengers vs X-Men was pretty good and managed to keep the quality of the crossover pretty high. With the fifth issue, there is a little bit of worry as one part of the story sort of ignores some of the character development that took place in some of the recent related issues of X-Men. Right before issue five came out this week I was really happy with Marvel for the char... more.
  • Avengers vs X-Men #4 Review 0 CommentsPosted by on May 17, 2012 under Comics, Reviews
Marvel's huge 2012 crossover is now a quarter of the way done, and how's it doing? Pretty freakin' epic so far. While most of the fights are being shown off in other books, such as AvX VS, the really important ones take place in the pages of this series and in the previous issue; Cap and Logan came to blows and as a result Wolvie was left stranded in Antarctica to fend for himself. So with issue f... more.
  • Battleship Review 1 CommentsPosted by on under Featured, Reviews
To be honest with you, I really wasn't looking forward to Battleship at all. After all, it's based on a board game and the trailers just made it look like Transformers but without actual Transformers. Even though the movie is only two hours, but at times feels a lot longer, in the end I ended up somewhat enjoying myself. Not enough to recommend Battleship completely, but if you're bored on a Satur... more.
  • Avengers vs. X-Men #1 Review 0 CommentsPosted by on April 2, 2012 under Comics, News, Reviews
This summer's sole big comic crossover begins tomorrow night at midnight as many comic shops will be staying open late to sell the first issue, but is it worth lining up for? DC won't be doing a major crossover this summer, so it's up to Bendis and Marvel to deliver epic super hero action. After last summer's Fear Itself, I really wasn't looking forward to any Marvel book anymore. That event w... more.
