  • Star Wars: Legacy – War #6 Review 0 CommentsPosted by on May 30, 2011 under Comics, Reviews, Star Wars
The short new Legacy series comes to an end, and what an epic end it is. While Star Wars: Legacy may have had some backlash when it was initially announced; the fifty issues that series ran ended up being some of the best Star Wars comics since the Tales of the Jedi days. Set more than a hundred years past the time of Luke, Han, and Leia; the Legacy era focuses on Cade Skywalker who initially reje... more.

At last!  Something with massive polish that isn't Call of Duty or Battlefield! I don't know about everyone else but the appeal of modern warfare in shooters is entirely lost on me.  Perhaps it's the pure saturation point that it's reached, filling shelves and sites alike, or perhaps the waves of bad news regarding wars in the world, but contemporary shooters simply aren't to my tastes anymore.Â... more.
  • Flashpoint Review 1 CommentsPosted by on under Comics, News, Reviews
With Marvel's Fear Itself crossover now two issues in, it's time for DC's big 2011 event to start. If you read comics you know how awesome Geoff Johns is, and this first issue of Flashpoint definitely delivers the goods. I will keep the major spoiler out of this review, but the final panel is so awesome it'll make you scream. The story of Flashpoint is basically that Barry Allen wakes up in a w... more.
  • Thor Review 2 CommentsPosted by on May 6, 2011 under Comics, News, Reviews
Nearly ten years ago, I stepped out of a showing of Fellowship of the Ring in awe. Someone finally got a fantasy movie right. Today when I stepped out of Thor, I had a similar feeling. After more than a decade of reducing comic book movies to reality and tossing out anything remotely fantastical; someone finally embraced a comic book and put everything on screen as it should be. Thor isn't walking... more.

  • Trapped Dead Review 2 CommentsPosted by on May 2, 2011 under Gaming, Reviews
With the sheer number of zombie-infested shooter games out there it's always nice to see a developer do something different. And in the swathes of zombie games that have been washing up on the shores of our stores, Iceberg Interactive and Headup Games came together to give us Trapped Dead.Set in 1982 this particular incarnation of the living dead feels very reminiscent of the older zombie fil... more.
  • Mortal Kombat Review 0 CommentsPosted by on April 20, 2011 under Gaming, News, Reviews
This week the ninth Mortal Kombat game has hit stores and a whole new generation of gamers can be introduced to the gory fun that the series is known for. I've actually had some amusement seeing reviews from people who comment how they were either too young (or not even born yet) when the original three games hit arcades and consoles in the early 90s. It actually makes me feel a little old. I can ... more.
  • Portal 2 Review 0 CommentsPosted by on under Gaming, News, Reviews
The original Portal was an interesting experiment with puzzle-based gameplay and a bonus in the Orange Box that became a huge hit. For the sequel, Valve has upped the scale in just about every area and gives us a new game that can stand on its own and is definitely a must purchase for anyone who enjoys games. Like the original, Portal is available on the more.

Massive comic crossovers are expected. It's now a summer tradition. Usually beginning in the late Spring, both Marvel and DC set up large universe-spanning crossovers that then set the stage for all the stories told for the remaining year. Sometimes Marvel has the better one, such as Civil War, and other times DC shines such as with Blackest Night. This year Marvel's big event is titled Fear Itsel... more.
