It was expected that Call of Duty: Black Ops would be big, but this is surprising. Activision has announced that in its first day of release in the US and UK, Black Ops sold through a staggering 5.6 million copies. In comparison, Modern Warfare 2 only sold a paltry 4.7 million copies on its first day. That translates into $360 million dollars for Black Ops, where Modern Warfare 2 raked in $310 million. If there was ever any worry about the future of the Call of Duty franchise without Infinity Ward at the helm, those concerns have just been obliterated.
