Bethesda nearly crashed the internet earlier this morning (or at least blew up their own website) when they posted a countdown to the first trailer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda’s long-running open-world RPG series is among the best you could ever play, and the fifth game in the series is by far one of the most anticipated releases this fall. If you haven’t played an Elder Scrolls game, it’s a must.
The three minute trailer does not disappoint at all. After a brief introduction setting up the story of Skyrim, the trailer explodes into combat footage mixed in with plenty of shots of the varied environments of the world. While Nordic-inspired snowy environments and towns do feature prominently in the game, the trailer reveals that there will be plenty of dark caves and mysterious crypts to explore; just as you’d expect in an Elder Scrolls title.
November cannot come soon enough. We must play this now!
UPDATE: A Bethesda employee has revealed that all of the footage in the trailer was captured on the Xbox 360 version of the game. That means the PC one could possibly look even more stunning.
