Anonymous Takes Down Sony

||

We all know the drama about the PlayStation Network being down for the last two weeks, but now we know who did it. Today Sony released their response to the US House of Representatives regarding the hack that brought down not just PSN, but Sony Online Entertainment as well; and they confirm that it was apparently Anonymous that did it based on a filed that was found on SOE’s servers:

We discovered that the intruders had planted a file on one of our Sony Online Entertainment servers named “Anonymous” with the words “We are Legion.”

Earlier in April, Anonymous attacked Sony’s web servers which caused their sites to crash. This was in response to Sony’s harassment of GeoHot over the PS3 jailbreak. There were rumors, nothing really official from Anonymous, that the web attack was just the tip of the iceberg; and now it looks like that was the case. As of this writing both PSN and SOE are still down with no real ETA as to when either will return.
