There have been rumors lately that Disney would be skipping out on Comic Con completely and instead hold off on showing anything Avengers related at their D23 Convention in Anahiem this August. Thankfully, it’s looking as if both The Avengers and Captain America will have a Comic Con presence in some way. FirstShowing is reporting that Marvel will be copying their Wondercon and Wizard World presence by handing out S.H.I.E.L.D. badges to attendees and that the Teaser Trailer may be shown:
As was teased with WonderCon, S.H.I.E.L.D. is becoming the main focus of Marvel’s viral marketing efforts at comic book conventions, and in San Diego this year they’re going all out. More vehicles (sponsored again by Acura, but of course) will be scattered throughout, along with more S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel. We’ve also heard that the massive Helicarrier bridge is a very important set piece in the actual movie, and might be the centerpiece for Marvel’s booth this year, just like Odin’s giant throne was the centerpiece last year (but that’s not 100% confirmed and won’t be until someone gets photos from the showfloor). Oh and apparently there will be footage showing on screens at the booth. But we’re not exactly sure what – likely the teaser.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Chris Evans will be there for Captain America (which opens during Comic Con) and would be doing something with the local troops stationed in San Diego:
Well, there will be no panel, but Heat Vision has learned that, while details are still being worked out, Marvel and Paramount, which is distributing the film, are planning a military salute that would involving star Chris Evans and soldiers stationed in San Diego. Evans would also attend the Con to do to signings at the Marvel booth.
