The one doing the correct Vulcan salute may direct Star Trek 3…

We really didn’t like Star Trek Into Darkness. While the first Abramsverse Star Trek in 2009 worked as a rousing space adventure with a very “Star Wars” style heroes’ journey, the sequel was a stupid mess that didn’t just check its brain at the door…it never had one in the first place.

With JJ Abrams off in a galaxy far far away, there has been question as to who would helm the third Star Trek movie that’s due in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Rumors have been swirling around Roberto Orci to direct for a while, and now Deadline is reporting that it’s very close to actually happening.

As the one big “Star Trek” fan in the writing team that made the first two movies, Orci should be a good choice…as long as he figures out how to correctly spell “Qo’Nos”.
