There’s a completely false Star Wars rumor going around this morning that should infuriate any true Star Wars fan. I don’t normally read the site it originated at (as they’ve stolen content from us in the past without credit), but it apparently comes from Bleeding Cool who is trying to start a completely made up lie saying that Disney plans to phase out the Prequel Trilogy and make them Star Wars Legends:
Potentially phasing out the prequel trilogy by lumping them in with the “Legends†non-canon fodder.
The reason why this is a total lie just made up to get hits from angering Star Wars fans and giving Prequel haters something to enjoy is because it goes completely against Lucasfilm’s official stance on the state of Star Wars canon. It’s still on the official site, where Lucasfilm states that the SIX movies (which INCLUDE to Prequels) and Clone Wars are immovable objects of canon:
“This includes the six Star Wars episodes, and the many hours of content he developed and produced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These stories are the immovable objects of Star Wars history, the characters and events to which all other tales must align.”
Bleeding Cool either can’t read or decided to ignore this just to rile up Prequel Haters to give their site hits.
Disney isn’t “phasing out” immovable objects of Star Wars history.
Thanks to our friends over at MakingStarWars.net for bringing this to our attention and making us furious this morning.
