Are you one of those people who are planning on picking up an Xbox One now that it’s $399 without the NSA’s favorite toy? If so, avoid a product like this one that someone is selling for about $20 on eBay:
The Xbox One cannot be used in the vertical position. Unlike the Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4 the system was designed to only be sat horizontally. Placing it in a vertical position could cause many issues, one of which is the possibility that you may not be able to remove the disc in the drive – something the sticker on the front of the system warns about.
This product is similar to the “intercooler” that was sold for the Xbox 360, which also ended up causing many issues with the hardware and actually accelerated the “Red Ring of Death” on systems.
Basically these “cooling systems” are a rip off. Just keep your system well ventilated. If it’s in an entertainment center, make sure the sides of the system have enough space to vent heat so that no vents are blocked and you should be fine.
