Prior to the revelation of the Sequel Trilogy, long before those uninterested in the saga took a renewed “passion” in it, Star Wars fans were speculating about the “Live Action Television Series”. About the time it was shelved we learned it was titled “Star Wars Underworld” and would be a darker, more adult, Star Wars series set between Episodes III and IV. Aside from there being more than fifty scripts done for the show and that Star Wars 1313 would’ve tied into it, we haven’t heard anything about the series for quite a while.
MakingStarWars.net found a Kickstarter from one of the writers on the show who explains how it would’ve told the origins of Han and Lando:
Star Wars: Underworld was going to feature episodes on how Han Solo and Chewbacca met one another. There was going to be a sequence about how Lando lost the Falcon to Han Solo. There was going to be a Boba Fett rocket pack sequence. The series was going to start out with a new take on Star Wars and then loop back around and bring in all the characters we’ve loved for years into the fold.
Lucasfilm never discards anything, so it’s entirely possible these story elements established in that movie could show up in the Han Solo spin-off. It’s also not the first time Lucasfilm wanted to tell the origin of Han Solo, he was included in early drafts of Episode III during the Kashyyyk sequence.
