As of right now, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be the lowest-grossing superhero movie of 2014. Captain Amercia: The Winter Soldier has the top spot, followed very closely by X-Men: Days of Future Past. Despite strong international box office, the Spider-Man sequel is tanking faster than Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 did in the US. Could Sony be rethinking their approach to Spidey?
According to Mr. Beaks at AICN, it seems like Sony has pushed back the next Spider-Man movie a whole year:
I have been told that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 has been moved to an undetermined date in 2017.
The movie was originally set for June 10th, 2016. It’s also unknown how this will affect the releases of the Sinister Six, Venom, and ASM 4 movies if it’s true.
