Yesterday we learned how Andy Serkis’ motion capture company, the Imaginarium, was involved with Episode VII and how his role in that movie is likely performance capture. Now word has come out that his company is also working on The Avengers: Age of Ultron and he’ll be playing a part in that movie as well.
Serkis revealed this in an interview in Variety:
You’re involved with both “The Avengers: Age of Ultron†and “Star Wars Episode VII.â€
The Imaginarium is the performance capture consultant, and I’m playing a role (in both films). On ‘The Avengers,’ I’ve been working closely with Mark Ruffalo.
Will we actually see your face?
I’m not at liberty to mention. But it’s all the same to me. I’ve never drawn a distinction when playing a role, whether it be live action or performance capture. Acting is acting. It’s just basically what you wear to the set that’s different.
The bit about him working with Mark Ruffalo isn’t new, but him having a role in Avengers is. We know that the motion capture role for Hulk, Ultron, and Vision are naturally filled…so who could Serkis be playing? Could he just be one of Ultron’s many drones? M.O.D.O.K.? Or is he a major character we haven’t heard of yet?
