Even though we won’t see the sequel until July 28, 2017 the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie is already being worked on.
Writer/Director James Gunn posted a message on his Facebook page this weekend following the amazing response by the public to Guardians of the Galaxy (which you can read in full here), and at the end he said how he spent this opening weekend:
And, of course, I’m not really saying goodbye as, while many of you have been enjoying the film, I’ve spent this weekend hard at work on the sequel. I couldn’t help myself! The results are nice but it’s really the creative process I love and that keeps me going. I’m on fire with this thing! The Guardians have so many hardships and heartaches and triumphs ahead of them, and I can’t wait to share them with all of you.
We’ll obviously see more Thanos in the sequel, and then there’s the looming issue with Quill’s father. Based on some of the changes made in the movie to the lore, it’s up in the air as to if we’ll see the Spartax Empire and J’Son in part two or if they’ll go a completely different direction with Peter’s dad…
