One of the big surprises at this past summer’s San Diego Comic Con is that Fox made zero mention of Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot. Nothing, not even a logo of the movie appeared at Fox’s Hall H panel and many people believed this meant that Fox was hiding the film from comic fans. After all, the movie was scheduled to release on June 19, 2015. More than a month before the 2015 San Diego Comic Con.
Not so anymore.
Lost in the fervor of the Deadpool announcement yesterday, Fox has moved the Fantastic Four reboot back a couple of months to August 7th. Not only does this move Fantastic Four out of the path of Jurassic World (it was originally opening just a week later), it also gives Fox a chance to show something to fans at Comic Con next summer.
Whether or not fans will buy into a found footage-style Fantastic Four movie with yet another dumb Doctor Doom design remains to be seen.
