When Gary Whitta was suddenly replaced as the writer of the first Star Wars spin off, it was reported that a new writer would be hired to replace him on the movie. It now seems like we know who that will be.
Both MakingStarWars and ClubJade found a Slashfilm article where it’s been revealed that Simon Kinberg will be Gary Whitta’s replacement on Star Wars. Kinberg is involved with Fox’s Marvel movies, but he has a strong Star Wars presence having worked on Star Wars Rebels, consulted on The Force Awakens, and was pegged to write a spin-off.
As Kinberg never made any “F George Lucas” statements in public, as Whitta did, he’s a better choice for that reason alone. His Star Wars experience just helps his case.
