There has been endless debate whether or not the version of The Force Awakens that Lucasfilm made is the same Episode VII that George Lucas had planned to make. Prior to the Lucasfilm sale to Disney, Lucas had to turn over his outlines for the Sequel Trilogy to Disney and some have wondered if those ended up being used at all.
Now The Maker has confirmed to Cinemablend that Disney scrapped his ideas:
The ones that I sold to Disney, they came up to the decision that they didn’t really want to do those. So they made up their own. So it’s not the ones that I originally wrote [on screen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens]
On one hand you have the Lucas haters who are cheering and celebrating the end of his involvement in Star Wars, while on the other you have longtime Star Wars fans worried about what Abrams and Kasdan invented for the new movies.
