As popular as the X-Men movies are, they generally do a poor job of replicating the comic book looks. From the first movie mocking yellow spandex, to the Wolverine costume that was cut out of The Wolverine, it’s almost like the filmmakers are afraid of embracing the comic book. That may change with Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse villain in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Comic Book Movie found a quote on Yahoo UK (the Yahoo link is down) that leads many to believe we’ll see a good representation of Apocalypse:
Isaac also offered some tantalizing details about his costume. “It’ll be a mix [of practical and digital],” Isaac said. “I haven’t had a script so I haven’t had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it’ll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology.â€
Of course he hasn’t seen the script yet so this is speculation, but if it happens it’ll be one of the first times (except for maybe Juggernaut and Nightcrawler) where a character in an X-Men movie replicated the look of their comic counterpart pretty well.
