Most Star Wars fans know that big film blogs, who aren’t really Star Wars fans, will post anything and everything with “Star Wars” in the title to bring attention to their stuff. Hell, we’ve even seen one admit on Twitter that they only post Star Wars stories to “keep the lights on”.
This week’s latest bit of Star Wars clickbait is a quote from the Irish Examiner that people are twisting to mean something it isn’t. By taking his quotes and putting their own spin on it, sites are trying to tell you there’s a new Star Wars trailer on the way very soon. That’s not what he said:
“First of all, I’m always grateful that people would be asking. But the truth is it’s like we haven’t shown anything,†he said.
“There’s sort of an abundance of riches with the stuff we could put out so we’re just trying to make sure it’s as good as it could be before we put anything out. The disaster would be to race something out for the sake of making an impact and it being not as good as people deserve.â€
“We don’t want to be coy but we have almost a year until the movie comes out, so we have to be smart about what we say and when. We’re always having conversations about it.â€
What Abrams is most likely referring to is what Lucasfilm has planned for Star Wars Celebration in April. As most fans know, both JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy will be kicking off the Star Wars convention the very first day with the very first presentation. So if you want to see some of JJ Abrams’ Star Wars riches, book a trip to Anaheim right now.
