The day X-Files fans have been waiting seven years for has arrived. No, we’re not getting a third movie after Fox had the brilliant idea to release I Want to Believe up against The Dark Knight, but the series is coming back to television.
It’s been rumored for a long time, but now it’s 100% official. Fox has given the go-ahead for a six-episode limited series. Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson, and David Duchovny are all back and will film the six episodes over this summer. Fox hasn’t yet announced when the episodes will air, but just getting the confirmation is good enough for now!
There’s no clue as to what the six episodes will be about, but hopefully it finally resolves the “mythology” arc of the series that was given a pretty major cliffhanger in the final episode.
