Marvel Can\’t Use Kang the Conqueror in the MCU

Kang the Conqueror MCUComic book fans hoping to see Kang the Conqueror face off against The Avengers on the big screen will be disappointed to hear that Marvel can’t use him in the MCU.

Even though the character is technically a Fantastic Four villain, he’s been a common foe for The Avengers. Most recently he was used as the key villain in a time-traveling storyline in Uncanny Avengers and he tends to be used with those characters a lot more often than with the Fantastic Four.

A fan asked James Gunn on Facebook if he had any plans on using Kang in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and he explained that Fox owns the character:

Fox owning the Shi’ar has been known for a long time as they’re almost exclusively the X-Men’s cosmic connection (where the Kree appear mostly in The Avengers). Kang’s a big disappointment, but hopefully Josh Trank’s stupid Fantastic Four reboot bombs so bad Marvel will regain the license to those characters.
