Just a few months after its official launch in March, Infinite Crisis will shut down forever in August.
The bad news came today via a post on the official forums, where the Community Manager announced that August 14th will be the shut down date for the game:
After much deliberation, we regret to announce the official shutdown of Infinite Crisis. We will end development efforts today and will close the service on August 14, 2015.
This was an extremely difficult decision to make. On behalf of the entire Infinite Crisis team we want to thank all of you for your feedback, support and for joining together to create one of the best communities in gaming.
The game was in open beta for a long time, and while some hardcore DC fans did play it a bit it likely couldn’t compete with an increasingly crowded MOBA space. Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm officially launches tomorrow, and with League of Legends, DoTA2, Smite, and others still drawing players it likely wasn’t worth running the DC themed game. It didn’t help that it wasn’t as much fun as a traditional MOBA, so while this is a quick shutdown (less then 6 months) it’s not completely suprising.
