It’s no longer Independence Day 2, the ID4 sequel has an official title and it’s Independence Day: Resurgence.
Revealed via the official Independence Day Live stream, some new things about the sequel has been revealed. For the last year or so it’s been known that the movie will deal with humanity assimilating the alien tech from the first movie, and that was confirmed by one of the new Human/Alien jets they showed on the moon base set where the stream took place:
Yes, a moon base. They also showed a moon tug, and said Liam Hemsworth will fly it in the movie:
It seems like the main core characters are back, as well as the son of Will Smith’s character, the president’s daughter, a new Chinese fighter pilot, and the new President played by Sela Ward. Even back is Brent Spiner’s “dead” Dr. Okun, although they didn’t reveal how he’s really alive in this movie.
There was also a hint of bigger shields, which we may have seen in that preview poster.
Independence Day: Resurgence is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated movies of next year. Hopefully we get to see a trailer later this year to tease us more.
