Remember last week when Warner Brothers decided that the General Lee was too offensive for people to see? Well now the hammer has fallen and the [easyazon_link identifier=”B0072BNKIO” locale=”US” nf=”y” tag=”furiofanbo-20″]Dukes of Hazzard[/easyazon_link] re-runs have been banned.
TV Land has been airing newly restored widescreen HD versions of the series on a regular basis. I remember seeing it listed just the other night, and they even list each newly HD episode as “New” when they first air them. But now you’ll never see the 1979-1985 series on television again as TV Land has been forced to pull the episode re-runs.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed the censorship today:
“The network did not comment further or say why the episodes were removed, but the news comes as the show became part of the growing national debate over use of the Confederate flag, which is displayed on the roof of the Duke boys’ car.”
