San Diego Comic Con is just one week away, and today Entertainment Weekly has revealed Batman V Superman with their new cover and a bunch of new images from the movie.
Saturday is the big day for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice at SDCC. We learned yesterday that the cast will show up at the convention, which means this year is going to be the big blow-out for the long-awaited entry to the DC Cinematic Universe.
Entertainment Weekly has posted their cover story, and has this to say about the plot:
“Batman v Superman introduces a new Batman only four years after the release of the final film in Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. Ben Affleck plays an older, wearier Caped Crusader, one drawn at least in part from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. “He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it,†says Affleck. “But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.†Worried that Superman’s unequaled power makes him more of a potential fascistic overlord than the hero we need, he makes it his duty to take him out of the sky for good.”
That does sound a bit like The Dark Knight Returns. They’ve also posted some new images from the movie, and you can see them by clicking through the slides below:
