Today Square Enix officially announced the final release plans for Rise of the Tomb Raider, which will hit PC in early 2016 and the PS4 in Holiday 2016.
Microsoft had previously announced Rise of the Tomb Raider as an Xbox exclusive for Holiday 2016, and that remains. The game will release on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One on November 10th of this year. That release will be followed by a Windows 10 and Steam release in early 2016. No date is set for that, although “early 2016” usually means we’re looking at a February or March release. As it sounds like the game will be available in the Windows 10 store, there’s no word yet if it will support cross-buy with the Xbox One version as some Windows 10 Xbox ports are doing.
In Holiday 2016, a whole year after the game’s release on the Xbox One, Rise of the Tomb Raider will release on the PlayStation 4. The port will face some fierce competition when it’s released, as that’s when Sony’s heavy hitters The Last Guardian and the amazing Horizon are expected to arrive on the system.
