If you run Disney and just bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion, you’d see The Force Awakens as soon as you could, right? And that’s what Disney CEO Bob Iger has been able to do.
In an interview this morning on CNBC about all of Disney’s products (especially ESPN) Iger was asked about the new Star Wars and he’s seen the completed film as it currently stands:
“I’ve seen the film without most of its special effects and without most of its music,” Iger said. “I can’t wait for the world to see it.”
“We’re making standalone films which we’ve announced, two,” he said—referring to a project exploring the backstory of a young Han Solo and “Star Wars: Rogue One” involving a heist surrounding Death Star plans.
At San Diego Comic Con JJ Abrams revealed that he has a rough cut of the movie complete, and they’re just editing it and finishing up the special effects. Previous rumors about John Williams’ involvement said that he would be recording through September, which means there’s a very good chance that Star Wars Episode VII will exist in a completed form by this October!
