We already know that Fox wants to prevent any possible bad reviews to come out for Fantastic Four until tomorrow, and now Reed Richards says he doesn’t expect good ones.
Miles Teller told the BBC that Fantastic Four probably won’t score very well on Rotten Tomatoes:
“When Newsbeat asked Miles Teller, who plays Reed Richards, whether he was ready to prove the critics wrong, he replied: “We haven’t seen the film either.”
“Rarely are films of this size critically well received,” he said. “This is not a movie we’re going to go on (review website) Rotten Tomatoes and it’s going to be at 80 or 90 per cent.””
Actually he’s wrong about comic book movies not being well received. Just looking at the last few Marvel movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is at 89%, Guardians of the Galaxy is at 91%, and even ones with lesser reviews such as Age of Ultron is 74% and Ant Man is currently 79%.
So films based on comic books can perform well on Rotten Tomatoes. Him trying to blame the genre for the bad reviews Fantastic Four will likely get is just an attempt at damage control.
