In addition to finally announcing Star Wars Land today, Disney has also confirmed some very cool Star Wars attractions for their parks that will be coming very soon.
First up is Star Tours. Long rumored to be receiving an Episode VII upgrade, it’s now confirmed that Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will receiving destinations based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this year. Most likely timed for the release date of the movie on December 18th due to Abrams’ Mystery Box, this is something we’ll see before the end of the year. We first heard of this upgrade way back in December.
Next, the recently rumored (and seemingly confirmed) Star Wars and Marvel addition to Innoventions in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland has been officially confirmed. Also headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, the Star Wars Launch Bay will “take guests into the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes, including opportunities to visit with new and favorite Star Wars characters, special merchandise and food offerings”. We should see this by November in both parks.
For the younglings, the Jedi Training Academy will be updated to feature characters from Star Wars Rebels.
The final new attraction is a seasonal event taking place in both parks in early 2016. Season of the Force will feature Star Wars themed entertainment throughout Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, a new Space Mountain overlay called “Hyperspace Mountain”, and a new Star Wars-themed fireworks show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is the closest the Anaheim resort has come to the long-wanted West Coast version of Star Wars Weekends.
