EverQuest II Will Send Disruptive Players to \’Prison\’

EverQuest II Prison Server

A long time ago both Jason and myself worked for SOE on Star Wars Galaxies. A decade ago the GMs always wished they had a prison where they could send disruptive players to forever, and now EverQuest II will do that.

Today they announced a Prison Server Experiment where disruptive EverQuest II players will be permanently relocated to a specific server:

“Later this week we plan to release a server we are calling “Drunder,” which is a “prison server.” What does that mean, exactly? Ultimately, players who are caught breaking our rules and disrupting EQ2 live server gameplay will be flagged for this server, and no others — ever. Characters on these accounts will be copied to Drunder (the “prison server”) and can never leave or transfer to another server.”

This is actually a cool idea. This way people can still play the game instead of being permanently banned. They can only offend and disturb the other people who are placed on the server for similar things. It’ll be pretty interesting what kind of Wild West filled with gold farmers and racial slur spammers Drunder will become soon after launch.
