Sony Tried to Trademark \’Let\’s Play\’, But Was Denied

||

ps4Sony tried to trademark the term “Let’s Play”, but thankfully the US denied their attempt.

The US trademark office denied their application because it was too similar to an already existing mark, not because it’s a term commonly used by gamers who record and stream gameplay on sites like YouTube and Twitch.

This is a victory for gamers of any platform, as NO company should be allowed to own the term “Let’s Play”. It’s something console and PC gamers use to label their popular gameplay videos, and if Sony were to own the trademark on the term it would shut down a huge community of gamers online.
