One of the big complaints used by those trying to bash the DC Extended Universe is that they claim DC Films is “rushing” to Justice League. They try to compare what Marvel did prior to The Avengers, and claim that DC is going to ruin their movies by not doing a big build up.
But in reality, they are doing almost the same amount of movies prior to Justice League as Marvel did before The Avengers.
Prior to The Avengers, the Marvel Cinematic Universe looked like this:
Iron Man (2008)
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Then The Avengers followed in 2012. That’s five movies.
Lets look at the DC Extended Universe:
Man of Steel (2013)
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Suicide Squad (2016)
Wonder Woman (2017)
That’s four movies prior to Justice League in late 2017. One less movie.
And the argument about Batman V Superman using three superheroes doesn’t really hold that much weight when you look at things this way. Iron Man 2 featured Iron Man, Black Widow, and War Machine. And in that movie Black Widow’s role was about as big as Wonder Woman’s in Batman V Superman.
The Justice League “cameos” in Batman V Superman are nothing more than quick videos on a computer screen, so those thinking Batman V Superman is a rush job to Justice League are just people looking for a reason to bash DC movies. When you look at what Marvel did, and compare it to how many DC movies are coming before Justice League, it really isn’t that different.
