Last night at CinemaCon, Sony confirmed that the 2017 Spider-Man reboot that will bring Spidey home to the MCU is indeed titled Spider-Man: Homecoming.
During the presentation Sony head Tom “I Hate Superheroes” Rothman also confirmed the double meaning of the title. Homecoming refers to Peter Parker being in highschool, as well as an acknowledgement of Spider-Man returning home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nothing else was revealed about the movie, although they showed a clip form Captain America: Civil War where Tony Stark meets Peter Parker and some people confused this for a clip for the movie that hasn’t begun filming yet.
Last week Sony registered a domain for the movie, which led many people to believe that was the title for it. While people laughed at the title last week, last night’s presentation confirmed that the domain registration was real.
