In 1982, the same year Star Wars first hit VHS, Fox held a special double-feature of both Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back in theaters. Accompanying that screening was the first ever teaser trailer for Revenge of The Jedi, which was lost for years before The Academy found it in their archives. They released it on their YouTube channel this week to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of Return of the Jedi’s release as well as the 39th anniversary of the original Star Wars.
Star Wars fans obviously know the story of why George changed the title. Still this is an interesting piece of Star Wars history that’s resurfaced, although the overly-excited Harrison Ford narration on the similar Empire teaser trailer was much better than the simple slide show they did with this one.
