For a couple of months there have been rumors of an upgraded PlayStation 4 codenamed “Neo”, and now Sony has confirmed that this “PS4K” does exist.
Sony’s Andrew House confirmed it to the Financial Times, saying that the console will cost more than the current $350 PlayStation 4. “It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” he told the paper. The standard PS4 will still be sold along side the PS4K, “we will be selling both through the life cycle.” Those worried about their PS4 becoming obsolete shouldn’t worry as “all games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4.”
You won’t be seeing the PS4K at E3 this coming week. That means we’ll likely to see it revealed at Gamescom in the fall, unless Sony does their own even prior to that to show off the new system.
