If you saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 you likely spotted a cameo by one of the biggest races in all of Marvel Comics. The Watchers, famous from the Fantastic Four comics, and a favorite creation of Stan Lee made an appearance with his cameo.

The question most fans had was that it has been believed that Fox owned The Watchers due to them being tied to Fantastic Four, like Galactus and Silver Surfer.

In an interview with Slasfilm, Feige explains:

“There’s joint custody with a number of things. There are certain characters that they have, but races that we share.”

This is what some people suspected, and it’s the same with the Skrulls (which Marvel haven’t yet used). Marvel can use the Skrull race, but Fox owns Super Skrull. Likewise Marvel can use The Watchers, but Fox has the rights to Uatu.
